Lauren Knausenberger to step down as Air Force CIO
Department of the Air Force CIO Lauren Knausenberger announced Wednesday she will resign from her role, an Air Force spokesperson confirmed.
Knausenberger is the third U.S. military CIO to announce their departure from the role in recent months. Raj Iyer resigned as Army CIO earlier in February, and just this week, Department of the Navy CIO Aaron Weis said he will leave in March.
Her last day in the role will come sometime in June, the spokesperson said.
Knausenberger has been in the CIO role since 2020, and before that, she was the service’s chief of digital transformation and director of cyberspace innovation.
During her time as CIO, Knausenberger has been a vocal proponent of digital transformation and IT modernization in support of airmen, particularly in moving to the cloud, enhancing cybersecurity and improving user experience. Just last week, the Air Force issued roadmaps for the adoption of zero trust and identity, credential and access management (ICAM).
